Stone Fire Place

The fieldstone stayed. The grey didn't.

Every face of this fieldstone wall and the brick hearth went white. The wood mantel was left bare on purpose, so its grain reads as a single dark line across the stone.

Rocks like these have a hundred faces and a mortar joint around each one. Painting them means working the brush into every joint, not rolling across the tops.

Detailed Project Prep

Most of a clean paint job is plastic and patience.

Rob picked up a "do it right even if it's painful" mentality as a student of one of the best handymen in the twin cities. In an open kitchen, before the first coat, it looks like this.

An open kitchen sealed in plastic for prep: sheeted walls and doorways, a wrapped island, a pole sander and dust extractor on covered floors

Same hallway, one job apart.

Bare wood strips taped off along a long hallway, then the whole run of panel moulding finished in a green so dark it reads black, with crisp white crown and baseboard.

Hallway before painting: bare wood panel strips on a light wall, edges taped, floor covered
The same hallway after: panel moulding and walls in deep green-black with white crown and baseboard

What people ask Rob first

Anything else, call or text (612) 445-4023 or write to huespaintingmn@gmail.com.

Mostly interiors. Rob's crew paints kitchen cabinets (new or existing), high ceilings, walls & stairwells, floor & window trim, and retextures ceilings. If it's indoors and needs paint, ask.

Yes. Ceiling retexturing means taking the "popcorn" off and replacing it with a knock-down texture, then painting the ceiling.

Surface touch-ups prior to paint are part of the job: drywall, wood and trim get repaired and sanded so the paint goes onto a sound surface.
