Quality Interior Painting
Beyond a simple paint brush
Hues Painting does a little bit of everything, mostly specializing in interior paint jobs throughout the Twin Cities. If something needs painting and it's indoors, Rob Fast wants to hear about it. Whether it's a whole house or one wall that needs freshening up, the work starts the same way: prep first, paint second.

Cabinets
Will painted cabinets look like a factory finish?
Rob paints kitchen cabinets (new or existing): doors, drawer fronts and frames. The difference between a finish that lasts and one that chips is almost all in the cleaning, sanding and priming that happens before the first coat.
How cabinet painting works
Walls
What about the walls I can't reach?
Rob paints high ceilings, walls & stairwells, the places that need staging or a long reach to do cleanly. A single accent wall counts too. The blue wall in the Excelsior Brewing taproom is one of his.

Trim
The line where wall meets trim is the first thing your eye finds.
Rob paints floor & window trim: baseboard, casings, crown and the panel moulding in between. Cutting in a straight edge by hand, with tape where it earns its keep, is what separates a room that looks finished from one that looks painted.

Can the popcorn ceiling really come down?
It can. Ceiling retexturing means the "popcorn" is scraped off, the holes and seams are patched, and the ceiling is finished again with a knock-down texture, then painted.
It's messy work done in a sealed room, which is why the plastic goes up before anything comes down. See the full Ceiling Retexture job on the projects page.

Who fixes the wall before it gets painted?
Rob does. Paint shows every flaw underneath it, so he handles surface touch-ups prior to paint (drywall, wood, etc.) as part of the job: patching, sanding and smoothing until the surface is sound.

How much will it cost, and how long will it take?
There are no published prices, because no two rooms are the same. A ceiling with a stairwell above it isn't a bedroom with one wall to freshen up.
Share a few details about the project through the contact form, or just call. Rob comes out, looks at the work and tells you straight what it will cost and how long it will take.
